Bail Bondsman Charged in Bail Bonds Scheme

Bail Bondsman Ronald Lee Brockway was sentenced on Thursday after being arrested and charged in a bail bonds referral scheme. The bail agent was soliciting inmate business and attorney referrals; he was not only barred from bail bonds for 6-months but also sentenced to probation as well as one year in jail. According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, the bail bondsman violated bail bonds regulations for which he plead guilty. In the preliminary hearings of the illegal bail bonds case the bondsman was awarded no bond by the judge. No incarcerated person(s) or inmate can be solicited by a bail business or bail bond employee as stated in California bail law, even with no capital involved attorney recommendations are prohibitted by bail bond employees of bail companies.

In an effort to double bail bonds profits for his bail company, Brockway sent numerous emails to attorneys in hopes of recruiting them into his bail bonds referral scheme. Brockway mass mailed his bail company's flyer to the Orange County jail offering bail bonds services to inmates, this is a direct violation of California bail laws and bail bond regulations.

This isn't the first time the bail agent has been brought up on charges on an illegal bail bonds scheme but his 2005 testimony was needed to prosicute a bigger fish in a California bail law hearing. Brockway was not arrested or barred from bail bonds from his involvemnt in the past bail bonds referral scheme.
